It’s about that time of year! Each November, since 2005, when it started as “VTN” (Vinyl toy network,) Designer Con was a place where artists of all types of gifts came together to celebrate their craft! This year, due to exponential growth and attendance, Designer con 2018 has moved from its long time home in Pasadena to the Anaheim Convention Center and over 7,000 VIPS paying money to be the first of the first to open the doors. Kidrobot worked closely with the man behind the curtain for DCON itself, Ben Goretsky, and they together have curated a 11 artist series to honor those who have been a part of or enjoyed Designer Con for years - featuring work from: Christopher Lee, Greg "Craola" Simkins, Deph, Flat Bonnie, Hyperactive Monkey, Paul Frank, JonPaul Kaiser, Scott Tolleson, kaNO, Chet Zar, and Ragnar... and we crack open a case of this rad series and take a detailed look at each one we pull (check out the video and subscribe to our YouTube channel) - it's a fun series, and it all leads up to the final release on Friday, November 16th at the Kidrobot Dcon booth #2010 or online at www.kidrobot.com at 10:00am MST.
So many times you hear from fans they want a mixture of new artists involved in a Dunny series that features a non-restrictive theme... and this particular series does just that! A fantastic mix of new (Flat Bonnie, Hyperactive Monkey, Paul Frank, Chet Zar, Ragnar) and old (Christopher Lee, Greg "Craola" Simkins, Deph, JonPaul Kaiser, Scott Tolleson, kaNO) mixing in traditional pad printing only designs along with awesome sculpted details and accessories, as well as the very first all PLUSH 3" Dunny... this series is really nice - and although we didn't pull every piece in the series - we are still very happy with the ones we did pull... and look forward to seeing the mystery chases - oh, but how bout that JPK GID Kraken chase... ohhhh yeah!
If you are planning on going to Dcon this Friday, be sure to swing by the Kidrobot booth #2010 to snag some of these up... and better yet, if you pull one you love, there is a great chance that the artist who created it will be in attendance at the convention, so swing by their booth and ask them to sign it! Oh... and if you can't attend, this series will also be up online at Kidrobot.com at 9am PST and most all designer toy retail locations - highly recommended!
