The Beastmaster is a 1982 sword and sorcery film following the heroic Dar, who has the ability to communicate telepathically with animals, on his quest to defeat the sorcerer Maax, whose beast-like Death Guard warriors destroyed Dar's village. Accompanied on this quest by his animal companions, a black tiger, an eagle, and a pair of mischievous ferrets, as well as a redheaded slave girl called Kiri, it isn't long before the troup find themselves surrounded by eerie half-bird, half-human creatures. Now, it's important to note that throughout the film, no one's blade is ever coated or splattered with blood, as this was intended to be a PG production, which makes these "Nameless Terror" creatures all the more shocking. You see, these tall and gaunt bipedal beasts trap prey in their bat-like wings, almost instantly devouring them, a pile of bones the only remnants.
