The last several decades have seen artists become more comfortable merging comic book & manga styled works with gallery-ready pieces, one such creator being Spain's
Mia Alvarez. Obvious influenced by the likes of
Fafi and
Junko Mizuno, Alvarez has been slowly finding her signature style over the last decade as a professional illustrator and designer. During that time, she's been known by several artist aliases, including Mimi and Mia de Milazzo. And though she doesn't typically create designer toy works, around 2012-2013 she did make two unique pieces based off her designs, including the above-pictured "Little Sheep" illustration. And now I've explored these little known sculptural works by Alvarez in an article for
CoART Magazine, which can be read
HERE.
