I know most people would state that their favorite
Michael Lau works are his "Gardener" line, which makes sense as he's certainly best known for this 1/6th scale figure series, but I've always personally been more fond of his vinyl sculptures based on
The Godfather. Officially licensed from
Paramount Pictures by
MINDstyle International, these included the "original" marionette version of Don Corleone as well as a sitting rendition and even a "secret" interpretation! All having debuted at various stops along the
Ron English curated "Family Tradition" traveling art exhibition, I've always found these works to be as symbolic and iconic as the movie they were inspired by! In fact, I took the chance to really delve into these pieces in my newest feature on
CoART Magazine, which can be read
HERE.
