When I set out to write my latest feature on
CoART Magazine, I simply wanted to extol the "wow factor" of
Task One's "Lite-Brite MAD*L" pieces, a series of customs he created for
Dragatomi's booth at the 2010
San Diego Comic-Con. But the more I pondered it, the more I realized that Task's addition to the form was strictly inventive engineering and pop art reverance for the classic
Lite-Brite toy. This meant that the more imaginative, artistic, "designer toy" side of the equation was maintained by the "
MAD*L" vinyl figures used as the base, as opposed to something added by the customizer. Part recap of the "MAD*L" form, part history of Task One, and part exploration of the art nature behind these pieces, I present what may be my oddest article written to date, which you can read
HERE.
