Inspired by the appearance of the beast on an oil painting in
Mark Ryden's
The Snow Yak Show (Japan, 2008),
Porterhouse Fine Art Editions is producing the "Snow Yak Ornament", a roughly 4 × 3½ × 3⅛ inch Christmas tree decoration. What makes this really exciting to me, though, is that each "ornament was individually created using three-dimensional color jet printing technology (CJP). This printing technology uses a gypsum-based powder that is spread in thin layers. Print heads bind the layers together using a liquid binder, and the colors are added at the same time. This process creates full-color, porcelain-like pieces." And while careful inspection of the photos does reveal those typical 3D printing striations, it overall looks like a wonderful piece. With each piece numbered on its underside as well as numbered on a matching certificate of authenticity, these are limited to 250 copies that will be available today (Monday, November 20th, 2017) from
HERE for $175 apiece.
