Stepping inside the big top tent that is the
Jacob K. Javits Convention Center, where
New York Comic Con will be held from October 5th through the 8th, you might hear the faint cry of circus barker in the distance: "Children of all ages, see the
PIQ Custom Labbit Circus! See them fly, leap, juggle…" and, after a dramatic pause, "Well, they are actually incapable of lifting their tiny legs, but they have been miraculously transformed by artists, illustrators, and designers into hippodrome spectacles." Included within this fantastic array of rabbit-like beasts you will find, as pictured below (clockwise, starting top left): a kitsune from Japanese folklore as provided by
Jeremiah Ketner (via the Far East), a trio of free-range tigers eluding a flame-filled fate by
Yumiko Kayukawa,
Zard Apuya's concession stand of sculpted treats,
The Bots's harnessed wooly Labbit pulling the show's MC, and
Mary J Hoffman's contribution, depicting the big top itself! Additionally, there will be works by
Tasha Zimich,
Horrible Adorables,
Sugar Fueled,
Selina Briggs,
Miss Kika,
Audrey Miller,
TaskOne, Irie State of Mind, and
Sad Salesman on display. Come one, come all, and see them all at Cirque du PIQ booth #745 at NYCC!
