Ever since we
first announced that there would indeed be vinyl renditions of
KAWS's "BFF" design, people have been eagerly awaiting the release. And it's finally here! Yes, today (Wednesday, October 18th, 2018) will see the release of both the "Blue" and "Black" versions, which marks what KAWS refers to as "the first newly sculpted figure since closing OriginalFake several years ago". While confirmed details remain scarce, it is known that "Black" version will be available from
KAWSone.com at 9am Pacific time and that the "Blue" version will exclusively launch, online and physically, at the
MoMA Store. MoMA's most recent catalog, sources tell us, report the price for the "Blue" version at $280 apiece, with 4500 copies being allotted for this debut alongside the return of the "Companion" figures in all three colors (at the established $200 apiece price). Good luck to all who try to get one, as I suspect this is going to be a mad dash to snag copies before they sell out, open editions or not…
