Japanese painter
Hikari Shimoda began her career in 2008 with anime and manga-inspired fine art, but her direction refined in 2011 — followed two tragedies in her native country — and she began depicting otherworldly children imbued with a feeling of solitude. Expressed primarily through two series,
Children of This Planet and
Whereabouts of God, she is finally venturing into the world of art toys with these concepts.
