In what the artist proclaims to be "the ultimate meta-toy",
Emilio Subirá has parodied the classical toy backing card packaging by transforming its outline into an anthropomorphic form. Heck, it even has a punched hole at the top, as it would be hung on retail store peg. But instead of featuring an action figure within his Worbla thermoplastic bubble, it's a hand-cast and hand-painted heart! Titled "TOYSOUL (Resin Heart Edition)", implying other inner elements may be seen in the future, this roughly 5½-inch (14cm) tall piece even features magnetic articulation in its arms. Limited to 8 hand-painted pieces in the edition, plus one artist proof copy (featuring a slightly pinker hue to the extremities), these are available now from
Subirá's online shop for $69 apiece.
