*REVIEW* Kidrobot x Frank Kozik - Free Hugs Bear KR exclusive SILVER edition!

We had the opportunity to crack open the brand new FREE HUGS bear vinyl figure from Kidrobot and Frank Kozik, the one that is up for grabs HERE starting today (September 20th, 2017)... and we love what we are seeing with this new figure... and before we go any further, we did a live unboxing on Facebook last night, so if you would like to see the video, check it out below! Now... a little history on this figure. Back in December of 2013, Frank posted up the beginnings of a sketch for this project HERE, long before he took the reigns at Kidrobot as Creative Director... from there, he showed progress HERE of the sketching process and then moving into the 3D realm - thanks to Bigshot Toyworks. Finally, we saw a 3D printed output in May of 2014... and that's where this project sat, until most recently when the figure project was resurrected and produced into the vinyl figure you see today!

The Free Hugs Bear stands a massive 10-inches tall... and unlike most art toys, this is more of a sculpture, not only in form... but in function as well because there are no points of articulation. "He’s so cute. He’s so cuddly. He’s the perfect pet for a loving owner." as Kidrobot says... and why wouldn't you want to own this mutated teddy bear?!?! We opened up the Kidrobot exclusive SILVER edition (limited to 200 pieces, retailing for $100)... and we really dig the way it looks. The amount of detail on this piece is insane.. and the way the silver/black rub is applied, it really pulls out the detail!
On top of the SILVER edition, the Free Hugs Bear is also up for grabs in the retailer edition ORANGE colorway (limited to 500 pieces, retailing for $75)... which, as you can see by the photo in this post, looks like a vintage squeaky toy - so rad! Free Hugs is a nice departure from what we are used to seeing from Kozik, dashing outside the lines of his pop-cultre mashups and his Labbit laden empire, yet still holding onto that creepy cute vibe we have come to love about most of his work. If you are a fan of Kozik, teddy bears, mutants, or all of the above... this figure is perfect for you and will most definitely be a conversation piece in any collection.
