I always thought that the heartless and cruel
Dungeons & Dragons character
Warduke was inspired by
Frank Frazetta's
Death Dealer painting, given their similarly barbaric designs, but I've never read or heard anything confirming this. On the other hand, its not that debatable that the D&D villain was an inspiration to
Kalaka Toys in creating the "Shogun Warlord", a roughly 10-inch tall interpretation of the concept in
Shogun Warrior form. Cast in PVC vinyl, there are several editions debuting this form: the above-pictured red/black and black/red versions, as well as the below-pictured glow-in-the-dark "Ghost Warlord", black, and yellow/red renditions. While you can get copies now by
Direct Messaging the artist through his Instagram or emailing him through
matias [at] thekalaka [dot] com, these will also be available at this year's
DesignerCon alongside some special surprises!
