A Demon & a Ghost walk into a bar… Klav's "Crukii + Kimo"!

Full disclosure, I really like horror films and pieces derived from the feel of them. That said, I find Korean creation Toyboom's Crukii and Kimo, the artist's renditions of a demon and a ghost, to be a touch too derivative feeling for my taste. And then Kevin "Klav" Derken comes along and hand-paints a copy of this duo, which he won in an Instagram lottery, and the forms start coming to frightening life for me. To be fair, Toyboom is a fantastic painter herself, but there's something about Klav's layering of lacquers and oil paints that make the details pop a bit more. And the addition of his signature springs and wires turns what was a slightly cute, slightly creepy 5½-inch tall demon form and turns it into a biomechanical nightmare straight outta hell.
