About a decade ago, it seemed like the artist
Luke Feldman, better known as SKAFFS, was set to take the designer toy movement by storm. Not only were his original character designs resonating with collectors at large, resulting in
gallery show after
gallery show, but
Wheaty Wheat Studios was slated to release a vinyl figure based on one of his designs (pictured below). But then the production house went out-of-business, taking the all hope of seeing the stunning figure with it. Well, at least seeing it in more than just prototype form. Thankfully, Feldman was able to collaborate with
Dodgrr on a limited resin figure before ultimately leaving fine art completely. I like to think that Feldman would still be making art, his Misskaffs series of figures from Wheaty Wheat being a huge success, if only — of course — they hadn't gone belly up. I got the chance to really delve into what happened with my newest feature on
CoART Magazine, which can be read
HERE.
