While I haven't seen the over one-thousand films produced by the
Shaw Brothers since they were founded in 1958, I feel kinda safe proclaiming that my Top 10 list for them would include the 1978 martial arts cult classic
Five Venoms, or the
Five Deadly Venoms as some, like myself, know the title. So it's pretty exciting news that the production collaboration of
PlayToy and
Unbox Industries, who have an official licensing deal with Shaw Bros., have announced a "
Five Deadly Venoms vinyl figure" may be forthcoming! Pictured above and below is concept art by
Steven KH Choi, whose work may be known from his
Syncircle Design Company output or from his creating the
Zu & Pi illustration cycle. Either way, the design looks gorgeous! The paint mask detailing reveals this to be a depiction of Liang Shen, the Toad, from the film. Oh, and if you're curious, the jug infront of him has
五毒 written on it, which is Cantonese for
Mm Dook, or
Five Venoms.
