I was able to spend some time with the "A Little Misfortune Japanese Vinyl Finger Puppets" at
Five Points Festival and I thought they were absolutely stellar, taking a classic designer toy shape and giving them a simpler life as a finger puppet style piece. Now, in all fairness, I'm a big fan of the typical creations that stem forth from the mind of Clay Ferguson, who is better known simply as
FERG, and who is the designer behind these
Squibbles Ink + Rotofugi produced pieces, but I feel like if you enjoyed the concept the first time around that this new version will be appealing for the same reason. A twisted reinterpretation of the popular Asian "Lucky Cat" concept, these "Misfortune Cat" renditions see the feline impaling himself, "Suicide King" style with a sword. With the three pictured new, unpainted colors making their debut at
San Diego Comic-Con, each in an edition of only 50 pieces, those wanted to score these clear yellow, clear with pink glitter, or clear with blue glitter pieces should hurry on over to SDCC booth #5248, because at only $13 (tax included) each these aren't going to last that long!
