Ranging in size from 3⅘- to 21-inches in height, the Japanese artist
Haroshi crafted more than 20 original pieces for his recent Guzo solo exhibition at the
Nanzuka gallery in Tokyo. Each humanoid statuette has the feel of being a tribal idol, but is kept modern through their stances, facial expressions, and, of course, the medium they are carved out of: skateboard decks. It's a fascinating process that the artist has been developing for over a dozen years, which I really got a chance to explore in my newest exhibition report on
CoART Magazine, which can be read
HERE.
