Even though we've
recently revealed the digital sculpt for "Washizu", the collaboration between
James Jean and
Staple (aka Staple Pigeon), we're thrilled to bring you these photos of an actual prototype piece! Designed to mark Staple's 20th Anniversary, Jean perfectly captures the aesthetic of the street culture and design mainstay as well as adding his own aesthetic to the piece, the densely layered imagery embodying "persistence over adversity, a memory of the slings and arrows anyone is likely to face over the course of 20 years." Depicting a pigeon-man frozen mid-stride, arrows piercing his form, this is inspired by the ultimate moments of Akira Kurosawa's
Throne of Blood, when General Washizu's troops turn on him, firing a beautifully choreographed barrage of arrows at him. Produced in PVC by
Mighty Jaxx, this fantastic piece will be available on March 4th at 8am Pacific time until March 5th, 2017 at 7:59am Pacific time, with the number produced limited to the orders received during that one day period. For more information, please visit
