We'd
previously announced that, as part of
The World of Tim Burton exhibition in Hong Kong, there would be a collaborative outing between
Burton and urban vinyl designer
Michael Lau. Manifesting as two "new" figures, the first was Lau's classic "Maxx" figure from the Gardener line redesigned in Burton's classic style, pictured above and directly below. Limited to 500 sets, this 6-inch tall "Maxx" figure, with his pet "BB" accomplice, costs HK$1600 (approx. $206). But, even more impressive to me, is the second collaborative work…
For the other vinyl figure, Lau was able to take one of Burton's lesser known characters — "Balloon Boy" — and reimagine it in his own style (pictured below)! With this 12-inch tall vinyl figure also is limited to an edition of 500, the HK$2500 (approx. $322) piece comes complete with real fabric clothing and a removeable plush creature that wraps around it. Both of these figures are part of a
Kickstarter campaign that is currently in progress, with all works expected to be delivered in February 2017.
