For the 1968 Yearbook cover to
Famous Monsters of Filmland, painter Ron Cobb did a now iconic interpretation of Galligantua, the two-headed giant from the 1962 film
Jack the Giant Killer. Officially licensing Cobb's rendition from
Famous Monsters of Filmland, former Mondo creative director
Justin Ishmael is thrilled to announce his 12-inch tall "Galligantus" soft vinyl figure! Cast in sofubi by Luke "
Grody Shogun" Rook from an original sculpt by
Handsome Taro, not only is "Galligantus" the fist Japanese vinyl piece Ishmael has released but it is also the debut of his "Make-A-Monster" series, a wonderful throwback to the vintage model kits of yore. Essentially how it works is that your piece will arrive unassembled in a model kit style box, filled with the nine pieces that make the 2-Headed Giant, and then you simply slot them together — possibly with the help of a hair dryer to warm the vinyl, but no glue needed at all! Cast in glow-in-the-dark vinyl, this monstrous beast comes with a spiked ball mace on a chain and assembly instructions featuring paintings by Ken Landgraf! Available now from
HERE for preorder, these $200 apiece works will begin shipping early next year.
