I was lucky enough to be sent a 1:6 scale Snake Eyes figure from Japan courtesy of the guys at
1000 Toys for review. One of the first things I noticed was the stunning box that this figure is packaged and sent in, it’s really great quality - and a clear sign of things to come. Now please bear in mind I am not a 1:6 scale expert, I just love toys in general and this review will be based on the simplest terms of whether I think this is a great toy or not - as is the case with all my reviews.
My first thought when I take this out of the box is that the amount of accessories this figure comes with is just stunning, and the attention to detail is over and above many regular toys. As you can see from the photos I took first I left all the accessories and weapons on the figure as it’s shipped, but I then took all the weapons and accessories off the figure and as you can see there are plenty of options. All of the parts that come with this figure are incredibly well manufactured but the piece that really got my attention is the sword (I think the right word for this is Katana, but I will leave that decision for others). The sword blade is really well reproduced and the detail on the blade is very convincing, this is one serious weapon.
The articulation with all 1:6 figures from 1000 toys (the people behind the Synthetic Human) is as always as good as it gets. The joints are easy to move but have real strength, and it feels like this figure will take some real playing with - and it’s great to see a figure like this that you don’t have to be afraid of posing and moving around like a lot of the other premium figures available from other manufacturers. All of the weapons and accessories fit well, and there are additional hands included for handling the various weapons as well. The hands pop off easily and the pegs are manufactured to a very high standard, so as long as you are not in a freezing cold room and you give the hands a twist as you pop them off they seem to come off easily
The clothing on this figure is also manufactured to a very high level of detail and while we looked at most of the immediately obvious things about this piece, we are very sure there is more than meets the eye. As always we don’t want to review all the fun out of any of the pieces we review and we will leave some mystery for you to discover when you get hold of your own Snake Eyes from 1000 Toys.
In their first collaboration with the North American retailer
BAIT, 1000 Toys have created a classic combination of the iconic ninja figure from the G.I.Joe series and the DNA from an old generation soldier - in what we hope will prove to be the first in a series of figures from TOA Industries.
Pre order is open now with a tentative expected delivery of February 2017: Product code: TOA-100254 - G.I. JOE×TOA Heavy Industries!
