Alex Pardee × Mighty Jaxx's "The Backpack" Designer Toy Revealed!

Photographed at the recent Singapore Toy, Games & Comics Convention by Marc Tan, pictured is the prototype of "The Backback" by Alex Pardee and Mighty Jaxx. This forthcoming sculptural work, based on Pardee's painting of the same name (see here), depicts an oozing but adorable alien giving a ride to a more grotesque looking creature. Immediately recalling to my mind The Scorpion and the Frog fable, one has to wonder what happens when the duo get to wherever they are heading… Pristinely sculpted and perfectly painted to recall Pardee's style, I'm especially fond of how a manhole cover was employed as the piece's base — taking something utterly alien and, through slight addition, bringing it dangerously close to home.
