This fantastic 3-inch tall Dunny is an original art creation by Méxican customizer
Shiffa, one that appears to be inspired by Porfirio Díaz, the controversial figure in Mexican history who served seven terms (thirty-five years!) as President of Mexico, a period known as the Porfiriato. He was a polarizing individual, one that had the status of villain among the Mexican peasantry who had a shortage of jobs and depressingly low wages during his reign, and something of a hero of capitalism in the business community. Shiffa's rendition, titled "Don Porfirio," makes no visual cues of approval or contempt, rather depicting the man's visage with a cartoonish flair. From his droopy eyes to his stately facial hair, this is actually a rather shockingly accurate representation of the man's look in later life! With all the hand-sculpted elements perfectly executed, the paint application giving a pristine monotone coloration to the whole, I especially love how Shiffa opted to use flocking to create Porfirio's mustache rather than simply sculpting the element… it's a little touch that gives a tactile and visual differentiation to that small area. Very smart and expertly executed. While it has not been announced yet if this work will appear in
Shiffa's online shop, those interested in inquiring about this work — or commissioning a piece of their own — can contact the artist
