Most Americans probably don't remember the term "Hooverville" but it was a popular term during the Great Depression to denote a shantytown built by the multitude of unemployed and destitute people.
Frank Kozik’s newest “Smorkin' Labbit” design is named after these temporary towns and rightfully so: it pays homage to the beginning of America's Golden Age of animation in the 1930s while also depicting someone that might've dwelled in a Hooverville, namely a hobo. We
previously teased this 10-inch long vinyl figure and it indeed captures the aesthetic associated with the '30s by remaining grayscale, depicting the Labbit's frayed overalls, stubble covered face, and of course signature cigarette all in simple blacks, whites, and grays. Being released in the Fall of 2016, we understand this piece will be €60 (approx. $70) each.
