Japanese artist
Konatsu has made a version of her roughly 7-inch tall “Giant Negora” figure that is based, in coloration, after ukiyo-e master Utagawa Kuniyoshi’s An Imaginary Scene of the Origin of the Cat Stone at Okazaki, from the Fifty-three Stations of the Tokaido Road (circa 1860). Given a simple black, bluish-black, and yellow painted scheme on white vinyl, this limited edition release is being sold exclusively in Japan at the
KUNIYOSHI & KUNISADA exhibition, which comes from the Collection of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston. Costing ¥9504 (approx. $84) apiece, we're not told what the limitation on this run will be but one best hope they have a friend willing to Tokyo's The Bunkamura Museum of Art on Saturday, March 19th, 2016 if they want one!
