Within minimal information available, it seems that Japanese artist Kento Sato, better known to designer toy afficianados as
kto kto, has created a massive, almost human-size sculpture that mimics the looks of a classic keshi — soft rubber mini figures like the M.U.S.C.L.E. line. Given an almost baseball player look with "ktokto" emblazoned upon his jersey, there are a sword and laser gun accessory pieces that — like when a keshi is first cast — are attached to the base model by sprues. This piece appears to be on display at the
Tokyo National Museum as part of some exhibition done in association with the
Tokyo University of the Arts, with an opening reception on February 25th, 2016 and showcasing the pieces for 28 days. Any further information, or clarifications, are most welcome, as this scene needs more work like this… elevating the toy form to something that the general public can't help but recognize as art.
