Swedish born artist Emelie Jensen, also known as
Tomodachi, reveals her biggest — er, longest — custom creation to date. Taking seven long weeks to complete, this is her contribution to
Martian Toys’s The Space Crab Wars exhibition for this year’s
Designer Con. Brilliantly contrasting the dessert camo colors with pops of pink hair, the girl warrior in the crab-esque mecha suit is a strange balance of the masculine and feminine, an element the artist was striving for.
Most of Jensen’s time, though, wasn't put into creating the above pictured piece… it was in the making of the unplanned second figure (pictured below). Removing the Space Crab’s helment to create her first work, Jensen’s decided to just start building something without tons of forethought. The first vehicle that the artist ever constructed, she built on the helmet with Super Sculpy and Epoxy. Painted in a similar scheme as the other piece, this second one contrasts the first figure perfectly. To see these in-person at DCon, visit Martian Toys’s booth #603!
