The Death's-head Hawkmoth was made famous by the film The Silence of the Lambs, which drew popular attention to the strange skull-shaped marking on these moth’s backs. Pictured above, lifelike as it is, is not a picture of an actual Death's-head Hawkmoth… it’s a soft sculpture by Lana Crooks, made with a mixture of hand dyed wool felt and silk.
