Named after the Japanese term for an apprentice geisha in western Japan, especially Kyoto, the 13½-inch tall “Maiko” (
舞妓) figure from
2PetalRose is created anew in the commissioned “Yin” (white adorned) and “Yang” (black adorned) versions. This sculptural piece has always had an almost feminist appeal, exploring the gender-breaking world of a woman partially garbed as a samurai. Both these versions were completely hand-crafted by the artist after being commissioned by a private art collector, with those interested in acquiring something similar being encouraged to contact the artist directly at
