While the head might seem similar to Longneck’s “Yusei Majin” masterpiece, that's only because it is using the same cultural reference point for creation: the 1902 film
Le Voyage dans la Lune (
A Trip to the Moon). This creature from the mind of
Utsugiyo is named “Getsumenken,” meaning “Moon Dog” or “Lunar Dog,” and they come only months after the debut of the first version. Made in two editions, #02 is Green and #03 is Camouflage, limited to edition of 10 and 21 pieces respectively. Standing roughly 3½-inches tall and being 6-inches long, these are available now for ¥6800 (approx. $55) and ¥8800 (approx. $71), though only purchasable by those lucky enough to win a lottery. The drawing for who can buy will occur on August 5th, 2015 at 7am Pacific time, with those interested in entering having to fill out
this order form.
