For those out there that don't remember the name Madballs, they were a toyline released in the mid-'80s by AmToy, a subsidiary of American Greetings. Each tennis ball-sized foam piece featured a horrendous face sculpted onto it, and these gods of gross-out toys spawned a short-lived animated television series, their own comic book title, and even a video game! And now we'll be getting the fun of those fantastic figures back… Rich Montanari of
Mutant Vinyl Hardcore enlisted sculptor
Chris Grondin to make the above pictured "Grinning Ball of Death" prototype. We're told it only needs a "few more details and eyes, and [then] it's done for molds." But what sort of molding will be used? You know it… true Madballs style foam latex!
