Too cute to be cruel… or is it? BowoBaghaskara's "Bento" art toy prototype!

Whether he knows it or not, BowoBaghaskara joins a long line of artists to have evolved the traditional & wholesome 'circular' cartoon character style — well seen in strips like Family Circus and Nancy — to a thoroughly modern rendition. Seen in the works of Chris Ware's Acme Novelty Library for over 20 years and as the mascot for the humorous Johnny Cupcake brand, this modern take of the 'circular' style points fun at the perceived purity of the past by corrupting it. BowoBaghaskara's "Bento" art toy figure, pictured herein, certainly seems to do similar… though, pig nose or not, I'm not sure how I feel about the Germanic lederhosen-esque attire with the Hitler-like hair part and the pile of skull throne he sits upon.
