Releasing a handful of screen prints that were held aside from the 2014 San Diego Comic Con, poster powerhouse
Mondo has delved into the realm of video games for the very first time with the above pictured
Sunset Overdrive piece by
Matt Taylor. Having never played it, I can simply surmise that there is a frantic energy in the game world, based on Taylor's 18"×24" silkscreen… a wonderful illustrated print that is limited to an edition of 175 hand-numbered copies, each costing a mere $40! Pictured below is
Kilian Eng's 24"×36" screen printed posters for the cult classic
Heavy Metal. Using an unreal color palette for a film that most — at the time — considered unreal seems impossibly smart, making Eng's hand-numbered posters 'must owns.' Pictured on the left is the regular version, which is limited to 290 pieces for $50 each, while the Japanese variant — which changes the title to ヘビーメタル, Japanese for "Heavy Metal" — is limited to 145 pieces for $75 each. Bearing in mind that most Mondo prints sell out within minutes, the only way you'll have a chance to snag one of these will be by following
Mondo's Twitter feed, as that is where they will announce when the piece is available in
their web shop today (August 28th, 2014)!
