Mr.TheSanders recently created a really cool art piece for the upcoming 85th Anniversary Popeye show at the
Hero Complex Gallery which is going down on September 5th. Entitled "Clockwork Sailor", he tells us that the sailor was built using a 2001 Mezco Popeye The Sailorman figure where he was given a robotic torso with clockwork arms and waist using found objects, sculpey and acrylic paint... and he looks AWESOME! There is a image of Olive Oil as a vintage sailor tattoo on the front of a drawer that actually opens so you can stash your treasure. The piece was aged using a metallic surface treatment and actual sea salt to create the overall ocean-worn look. The entire piece is presented in a wooden dingy and can be displayed free standing or can be hung on the wall and it stands 13" x 7" and is 3" deep. If you guys did this as much as we do, you can pick it up from the Hero Complex Gallery for $200! Follow Mr.TheSanders on his
Facebook for more awesome art!
