New Jersey-based customized
Cat Atomic swung for the fences with his customized Munnyworld Bub vinyl figure, a one-off piece created for the upcoming "Munny World" show at
SubUrban Vinyl. Titled "Joe the Bus Driver," this piece certainly must've been challenging for Cat Atomic, as sculpted human features are one of the most difficult to execute believably. I know the likes of Task One make it look simple, but he's had years of practice to get there! So yes, Cat Atomic's piece is a bit of a swing and a miss… the sculpted features actually look perfectly placed and proportionate, even if they are a bit lifeless, but the paint job really suffers from being a single color swath rather than a wash… if you're going to go realistic, you've got to go all the way! But, as I said, this is still an amazing piece — even if a bit over-reaching — for the young up-and-comer, who certainly has the start of a great customizing journey ahead of him.
"Munny World," a group custom Munny show, will open on September 13th, 2014 from 6-9
PM local time at
SubUrban Vinyl, 4 Frederick Street, Waldwick, NJ 07463.
