Fingers crossed, I hope this is the year that collectors begin to notice the odd talent of Kasey Tararuj, also known as
One-Eyed Girl. Not only is she featured in the
previously announced "Curious Beasts" showcase at The Clutter Gallery, but she's a contributor in the
Bottleneck Gallery's "It Came From 1984" exhibition. The latter, comprised of art pieces inspired by films released in 1984, will feature Tararuj's 3D painting of the beautiful Childlike Empress and the mystical Falcor from
The Neverending Story. Completely constructed on the canvas using Magic Sculpt, topped with real glass eyes, this acrylic painting has a subtle depth to its three-dimensional being… a wonderful effect that captures the magic of the all ages film perfectly!
"It Came From 1984" opens on February 7th, 2014 with a reception from 7-10
PM at the
Bottleneck Gallery, 60 Broadway R4, Brooklyn, NY 11249.
