Ten years ago, in 2003, Mark Landwehr began working on his first series of sculptures, which — after being cast in resin — were presented to the public for the first time at the Plastic Particles Exhibition in Berlin, Germany in the summer. These figures — "Flake, Fluid, and Float" — were featured in several magazine photo spreads and caught the eye of Vans enough to want to release them the following year, in 2004. With that release, the high-end production designer & artist outlet known as
Coarse was born. Celebrating their 10th Anniversary, Coarse re-issues those first figures from the early days of vinyl sculptures, having been re-sculpted, resized, and revamped! These new versions of the classic designs are done to proper 1/6th scale: the figure's body height is 12-inches from top to bottom and Fluid's longboard measures an impressive 18-inches! Packed in premium cardboard boxes with embedded soft sponge protection, each set contains the two vinyl sculptures Flake and Fluid as well as Float’s interchangeable head, which easily can fit onto Flake’s body. These Anniversary releases will be issued in two classic Coarse colorways: a Cream Edition, limited to 320 pieces, and a Pain Edition, limited to 220 pieces. Available on March 11th, 2014 at 7:59
AM Pacific time in the
Course online store for
HK$2680 (approx. $345.50) per colorway or
HK$4800 (approx. $618.50) for both versions.
