The brainchild of artist & designer
Ashley Wood and high-end manufacturer
threeZero,
threeA, released the officially licensed "Metal Gear: REX" — inspired from Konami's
Metal Gear Solid games — just over a year ago, literally taking the breath away from fans who could not believe the detail work placed into the nearly 2-foot tall figure. And now threeA are doing it again! Just announced for an anticipated August 2014 release, "Metal Gear: RAY" will be roughly 16½ massive inches in height with a full wingspan width of approximately 38½-inches! The wings, legs, and torso are fully articulated and the detailed chin area can be opened & closed, revealing the cockpit that is fitted with lights (require three AG13 button batteries). While the figure will come with an articulated stand for display purposes, the figure's feet are wrapped in a rubberized material which should grip nicely on most surfaces. As before, this 1/48th scale piece does not include the pilot figure, though I'd imagine there might be a Bambaland exclusive version with the Liquid-Ocelot figure as well. Anticipated retail price for this gorgeous work of art is ¥49,800 (approx. $481).
