While mainly known within the Designer Toy community as the creator of the WolfGirl, Shea "
FrankenFactory" Brittain was actually painting her strange and disturbingly quiet art long before making the leap to resin casting. Pictured above is her 12" × 12" cel-vinyl painting for
Super Cooper Berella's birthday art bash, "Music to My Ears," which is themed around creating art inspired by music. The inspiration for this piece was Nine Inch Nail's "Right Where It Belongs," which includes the line every artist fears to ponder: "What if all the world's inside of your head, just creations of your own?" Brittain's creations obviously have a world of their own, the two characters being the sole strange inhabitants of a very realistic European alcove; but there is something about their body language that lets you know they are not comfortable in their own skin…
"
Music to My Ears," a group exhibition curated by
Super Cooper Berella, will open on Saturday, August 24th with a reception from 7-10
PM and will be on display until September 10th, 2013 at
Toy Art Gallery, 7571 Melrose Ave., Hollywood, CA 90046.
