Hard working? Yup... those 2 words describe artist Kevin Gosselin to the "T" as he not only balances his day job and his family, but his awesome art as well... and most recently he completed some pieces for the upcoming
Urban Decay 4 show! Above you can see the skillfully crafted "I love you so much it hurts" custom Munny and companion piece... which is an obvious continuation of his "Tree Ents" series of figures. kevin mentions "
I've once again revisited the birch tree theme and added a friend. The birch tree character is different than the last with it's own unique details including a damaged leg from that of his friend the beaver. The beaver is a new character developed to exist in my "Ready for Bedtime" world. The original piece is available for purchase during the gallery show." Kevin's work is truly immaculate... and that's why he has solidified himself as one of the top customizers/artists in the designer toy scene. I like the play on "I love you so much it hurts" while incorporating the beaver figure, but not sure it fits as a companion piece. There is just something too cutesy about that beaver, and something too dark about that Munny for them to be together... that's just my opinion, and don't get me wrong, kevin's work is awesome, just not too sure on the pairing. IF you want the original, it will be at the show... Kevin also mention that he made a cast of this figure and he will release a limited edition of 10 at a later date... very cool! If you would like to know the story behind this set, Kevin goes on to describe why he did this
HERE, give it a read.
Not only did Kevin create this custom pair that you see above, but he also created a one-off of his Dead Kozik bust for this show that he is calling the "Artifact" edition! kevin mentions that "
I had a cast sitting around of the Dead Kozik Bust and decided to create a one-of-a-kind variant. I did my best to really weather this one up and make it look like an artifact."... and boy did he ever! The weathering on this looks spot on, all the cracks, and dings... it truly does look like it was carved out of a piece of marble. This piece as well as the other 2 will be up for grabs at the
UD4 show this Saturday, June 8th!
