SubUrban Vinyl and
Tenacious Toys teaming up to put on a custom exhibition would be exciting enough, but throw
The Loyal Subjects and
Hasbro into the mix and, well… you've got a G.I. Joe Custom Show! Using strictly The Loyal Subjects's G.I. Joe Series 1 figures, over 30 customizers will turn roughly 100
G.I. Joe figures into custom
G.I. Joe figures?!? Yea, it seems like a slightly lateral move, as opposed to turning the
G.I. Joe figures into
M.A.S.K. characters or something. But as
Evilos proves, with the above pictured "Crimson Cobra Commander" piece, it can work. He obviously added a bright, shiny coat of red to the figure and then redid the line work, which is definitely lacking in tightness, but the stand-out would be that staff… which, as far as I can tell, doesn't exist in the series and must've been handmade. Very nice.
The "G.I. Joe Custom Show" group exhibition opens on May 31st with a reception from 4-9
PM local time and will be on display until June 7th, 2013 at
SubUrban Vinyl, 4 Frederick Street, Waldwick, NJ 07463.
