Rhode Montijo's 'The Halloween Kid' to Become an Animated TV Special!

Rhode Montijo is one of my favourite indie comic book artists working today. From cult Flash cartoon Happy Tree Friends to comic series Pablo's Inferno, his work spans from late-night cartoons, to sculpture, to books scattered on the floor of a Kindergarten classroom. One of those books would likely be The Halloween Kid, a 32-page hardcover published by Simon & Schuster in 2010. It tells the story of a mysterious masked boy on a stick horse and his crusade to defend Halloween! Because who wouldn't want to lay everything on the line for the right to trick or treat?!
So why am I telling you all this? Well, the beloved book is being adapted into an animated holiday special and this is HUGE for Rhode! A panel discussion is happening TODAY at Anime Conji in San Diego, where they'll reveal the first sneak peeks of the animated special. Rhode will also share exclusive, behind the scenes material on The Halloween Kid Facebook page as production progresses. Stay tuned for more info and hopefully a teaser trailer!
