Travis Louie's 'Monsters on Their Day Off' Solo Exhibition @ Roq La Rue 4/12!
Roq La Rue Gallery is pleased to present Monsters on Their Day Off, a new collection of paintings from Victorian portrait master Travis Louie! Renowned for his hyper realistic paintings that feature eerily humanesque creatures, Louie's portraits uncannily resemble vintage photographs from the late 1800s.
"My process in making a painting is like writing a short story," Travis writes on Facebook. "There is a concept, . . .sometimes I pose a question, . . .sometimes I just want to describe a moment in time. I accept that there is a beginning, a middle, and an end. The beginning draws me in, there is conflict, there is resolution, and hopefully along the way, I learn something."
Monsters on Their Day Off opens April 12 and runs through May 4th. A reception with Travis will be held opening night from 6pm to 9pm. Be sure to follow the man on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram for more inspiration!
