An Update from Shing Yin Khor and Leslie Levings's 'Corner of Dubious Beasts'!
Shing Yin Khor and Leslie Levings's Corner of Dubious Beasts is creeping toward completion from the looks of the latest batch of progress snaps from the duo. All I can say is: holy Fiji Mermaid, Sawdust Bear! That may be the largest version of that specimen to date and I'm loving the delicate frills around the body. The chunky gemstone Larms and watercolours are also looking great. (It's all looking great, really.)
And then there's Leslie, who will have an assortment of utterly adorable creatures in little specimen boxes and bell jars. Adding a habitat to each was a great idea and really brings each Beastlie to life; I'm particularly fond of the stout blue fella on the right with his yellow 'happy trees'. Hey, if it makes you smile, it's a win in my book!
The Corner of Dubious Beasts opens May 11th through July 14th at Leanna Lin's Wonderland (5024 Eagle Rock Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90041). An opening reception with the artists will be held May 11th from 6pm to 10pm, so stop in and say hi!
