The daringly cute duo of
64 Colors have struck again, crafting an absolutely gorgeous custom 4-inch tall Sametan figure for the
previously announced "Sametan – Don’t Tread on Me" group exhibition. Their rendition of the Koji "
Cometdebris" Harmon designed
sofubi piece features not only exquisite paint work, but the kanji for "decoy" (おとり) emblazoned upon the beast's belly. And while the fades of color are spot on, it is that final touch of ultra-gloss coating that makes this piece really shine, giving the illusion of something that literally just emerged from some watery depths.
"Sametan – Don’t Tread on Me," a group custom show benefiting
PangeaSeed, will open on Saturday, March 29th with a reception from 7-11PM and be available for viewing through March 31st, 2013 at
Spoke Art, 816 Sutter St., San Francisco, CA 94109.
