The Berlin conference is still on my list!!!! Pictoplasma NYC rocked my world. Guest speakers, tarot readings, fantastic films, a character walk showcasing artist studios and galleries in both Manhattan and Brooklyn and the chance to nerd out and meet new friends. PICTOPLASMA NYC - Conference On Contemporary Character Design And Art" will return to New York this coming November 2 + 3, with a truly eclectic line-up of inspiring artist lectures, presentations and animation screenings. The conference will take place at the Tishman Auditorium of Parsons The New School for Design, featuring more than a dozen selected artist and designer talk, such as Julia Pott, famed for some of the most beautiful illustrations and animations depicting self-consciousness and awkward social constellations; Ryan Quincy, former Animation Director of South Park and father to a vast, ever expanding family of hairy critters; Gemma Correll, introducing her appealing zoo of doodled cats and hand drawn pugs (not drugs!); Andy Rementer, illustrator extraordinaire known for his dead-pan humor and dude-style 70s comic imagery; David OReilly, known for his groundbreaking contemporary 3D animation, mature sense of humor and virtuoso misuse of social media; craft artist Anna Hrachovec, who takes knitting to a place where no needles have gone before; Adrian Sonni, Argentinean creator of colorful cuteness with a dark twist, Saiman Chow, animator, illustrator and artist virtuously mixing comic book imagery, bold cartoon visuals and Japanese pop culture; and many, many more...
