Nakanari's custom for Giant Robot's "Biennale 3" group show!
You can see that the pieces are finely painted and well thought out, so this is one of those times where I hand it over to the artist to explain the customs: "The Love & Hate custom vinyl pieces made from a Uglydoll kaiju figure and the Giant Robot mascot figure for were made by Nakanari for the Japanese American National Museum Presents: Giant Robot Biennale 3 show. The set is meant to represent that, even for famous anthropomorphic, pant-wearing mice, maintaining a relationship can be a difficult endeavor. Love and hate are moments in time rather than a guaranteed constant. The reverence for the characters by which these pieces are influenced is especially high in Japan, as evidenced by the fact that Tokyo became the very first country outside of the America to build and operate their own theme park resort version."
The "Giant Robot Biennale 3" opens on September 22nd and runs through January 20th, 2013 at the Japanese American National Museum, 369 East First St., Los Angeles, CA 90012. Featured exhibition artists are: Rob Sato, Deth P. Sun, Ako Castuera, Eishi Takaoka, Saelee Oh, Sean Chao, Albert Reyes, and Zach Gage. Also on display is the Project Remix custom vinyl show with over 80 artists from seven countries.
