J★RYU's "Goodnight, Sweet Dreams...XO" custom My Little Pony for Hasbro / Sweet Streets show!
We have only seen a few submissions thus far for the upcoming Hasbro and Sweet Street's My Little Pony custom show, but already we have been seriously floored by the entries... and the piece above by artist Jesse Y. aka J★RYU is proof of just that... and my goodness did this piece turn out fantastic! Titled "Goodnight, Sweet Dreams...XO", this custom 18" My Little Pony has been transformed into a classic carousel horse of yesteryear and in true J★RYU fashion, there is a much deeper meaning to this piece as well! Jesse goes onto explain:
"This piece marks the return to my ongoing Forest of Sorrows narrative after a few months of exploring other themes and style. With the popularity of My Little Pony all over the world and the it's diverse fan base, I am honored and excited to be able to add my little contribution to this universe."Although he does not really dive into the true meaning of this piece, Jesse's emotions and skills are "worn on his sleeve" leaving interpretations open to all who view this latest pieces. Jesse used polymer clay, epoxy, metal, wood to complete the transformation of this once standing horse, and then painted it up with acrylics. Oh, and how can you not mention the "Mon Petit La Mort" ghost girl who makes an appearance in all of Jesse's 'Forest of Sorrows' pieces... which by the way is removable and sits in place with the use of hidden magnets... WOW! This custom is by far my favorite from J★RYU, and it's going to be up for grabs and on display at Toy Art Gallery on May 5th, 2012 where Jesse will be attending... see you all there!
