Dragatomi presents: "Year of The Dragon" 2/11/12
Hey Sacramento... you ready to ring in the year of the dragon in style... well, the folks over at Dragatomi are here to help, and launching this weekend Saturday, February 11th from 7pm-11pm is the "Year of The Dragon" show! Featuring a talented crop of artists such as: Carson Catlin, DrilOne, Daniel Fleres, Gatchabert, KingQuan, Jeremiah Ketner, Chris Ryniak, John"Spanky"Stokes, Jay222, Leecifer, Jackie Gallagher, Podgy Panda, Helena Garcia, Betso, Chauskoskis, LilJapan, Skinner, Jared Konopitski, Philip Lumbang, Ritzy Periwinkle, J★RYU and Valleydweller. A crazy show indeed! It's an open platform show, meaning all the artists involved we able to use anything they wanted... sculpture, custom vinyl, resin, 2D work, mashup's, but they had to keep the "Dragon" theme... making for an interesting, diverse show!
Above is my submission for the show, which was inspired by all those late nights of D&D as a kid as well as animated cartoons! Titled "Strollgon", I chose to use a MAD*L as the base for my figure... which you can kinda still see in there :-) I heavily sculpted on the head using balsa foam, resin, and magic sculpt, topped him off with some faux fur and glass eyes, and I incorporated a few parts from a Spawn figure as well. It comes with a base (it stands on its own as well) and measures 12" tall with an 18" wingspan... all of which was airbrushed with a mixture of colors! I had a ton of fun making this piece... and along with my custom there will be a ton more on display and for sale! The opening reception for "Year Of The Dragon" will take place this Saturday at 7pm... so head on out and enjoy the show, better yet, support the artists involved by buying the pieces! Hit the jump to see another shot of my custom.
