Custom Toy Union x Star Wars: custom Dunnys by Ian Ziobrowski, Timbone, Sekure D, Davidkraig & Fuller!
Over a month ago we posted about the forthcoming third installment of Custom Toy Union's Versus Series, which would revolve around Star Wars themed custom 3" dunnys. Five artists were tasked with each making 2 dunnys… and that's it. The series is 10 absolutely unique customs by some top talent. And now, we have those teasers promised you LONG ago. While we don't have pics of Fuller's Jawa & R2D2 customs, a little surprise is good and — as the quality of what we do have to show proves — they'll be killer!
Davidkraig's Stormtrooper does look a little rough around the edges, but that's a lot of sculpt to throw on one 3" dunny. But his Chewbacca is absolutely stunning, as each strand of hair almost seems to be real and those eyes are so crisp.
Ian Ziobrowski's Tusken Raider and Ewok both feature that nice, clean paint job that we expect from him. I love the small detail sculpting on the Tusken Raider's head, a little touch that really makes the piece pop for me.
And wow. Sekure D continues his massively slick and stylized customs with these Boba Fett and C3PO dunnys. While giving C3PO one eye doesn't do much for me, the detail work on the exposed wiring in his leg joints looks killer. And everything — everything! — about the Boba Fett piece scream Boba Fett to me; it's a massively cool piece of customization, from the paint to the accessories to the, well, everything.
And finally Timbone's Darth Vader and Han Solo in Carbonite. Seriously? Seriously!?! How did he do that? Look at Dark Vader carefully, the detailed sculpt. the intricate paints, and tell me how he did that on a 3" dunny! And while you can only capture a glimpse of Han Solo frozen in carbonite, it's enough to know it is done with all the same skill and craftsmanship as the Darth Vader. Hot damn.
The Custom Toy Union Versus Series: Star Wars will drop on Tuesday, February 28th at 12 Noon PST. All figures will be exclusively available from their webstore HERE.
